Bamboo Festival

The Pacific Northwest Chapter of the American Bamboo Society and the Hoyt Arboretum will sponsor a Bamboo Festival on Saturday, July 26, 2008 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. This free event is open to the public and will be held at the Hoyt Arboretum, 4000 SW Fairview Blvd., Portland. There will be plant and merchandise sales as well as demonstrations of bamboo uses throughout the day in the Stevens Pavilion Picnic Shelter (across the street from the Hoyt Arboretum Visitor Center). It will be a great opportunity to learn about bamboo and the ways it can be used as a sustainable building material.
Benefit Flower Sale at New Seasons Markets

Location: Portland Area New Seasons Markets
Hoyt Arboretum Friends Foundation, in collaboration with Leach Botanical Garden and Berry Botanic Garden will be at area New Seasons Markets in August 2008. Funds received from plant and flower sales will benefit these three urban gardens of Portland. Come, meet our volunteers and learn more about Hoyt Arboretum-- a place for wonder and discovery, exercise and rest and unparalleled rejuvenation.

Hoyt Arboretum at OHSU Farmers Market
August 19, 2008
Hoyt Arboretum will have a table at the August 19 OHSU Farmers Market. The OHSU (Oregon Health and Science University) Farmers Markets will be on Tuesdays between the end of May until the 1st week in October. The focus of the market is to reinforce an increased understanding held by university and hospital staff members of the importance of the greater picture of health that includes care for the environment. Visit the Hoyt table to pick up brochures on our over 12 miles of family-trails in Washington Park. Come and learn ways that you and your family can stay healthy through exercise!
Arborists in the Arboretum

Skilled arborists from throughout the region will donate their services to help maintain the health of the Hoyt Arboretum plant
collection on Saturday, September 6, 2008. In connection with this event a special tour for new members of Hoyt Arboretum Friends will be led by Membership Director Carol Tatch and local tree expert and long-time Hoyt volunteer Jim Gersbach (see Members Only Events for more information about member tours).
