Hoyt Arboretum is a free, public park and is open from 5am to 10pm daily.

Trail and Park Road Closures
Visitor Notice: Arborists in the Arboretum — Saturday, September 12, 2026
This Saturday from 8 a.m.–12 p.m., more than 100 certified arborists from tree care companies across the Portland area will be volunteering their expertise to care for Hoyt Arboretum’s trees and trails during our annual Arborists in the Arboretum event.
The Arboretum will remain open to visitors, but please expect some temporary trail closures and detours around active worksites. Volunteers will be stationed along the trails to help direct visitors safely around work areas, and you may hear chainsaws and other equipment throughout the morning.
Parking will also be especially limited, as work trucks and equipment will occupy spaces in our lots and along Arboretum roads.
Thank you for your patience as these generous arborists spend their Saturday caring for our living collections and keeping Hoyt Arboretum healthy and safe for everyone to enjoy!
Weather Information
The Hoyt Arboretum Visitor Center and programs may be closed or cancelled in cases of inclement weather including winter storms, thunder and lightning, high winds, and excessive heat. Closures and cancellations will be listed on this page along with current weather information to help you prepare for your visit.
