Guided Tours and Hikes

Exploring Hoyt Arboretum’s 189 acres on our 12 miles of trail isn’t just a hike – it’s a worldwide tour of trees.

Public Tours

Free public tours about Hoyt Arboretum’s global collection of trees, hiking trail system, and history are held Sundays at 11am, April through October. Sign up in person, day-of at the Visitor Center.

Trees For All Public Tours

This free public tour stays on Hoyt Arboretum’s paved trail systems focusing on angiosperms, gymnosperms, and native plants around the Visitor Center and up the Overlook Trail. Click here to view pictures of the full tour route and trail description.

Trees For All Tours are led by trained volunteers every third Thursday and Sunday of the month at 10:00am, May through October. This tour is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Click the event listing of interest below to sign up.

This tour route is available for private group booking, and will be regularly scheduled once a month starting in Spring 2026. Check back here for scheduled dates and sign up details.

Spanish Tours

Explore one of Hoyt Arboretum’s three nationally-accredited collections entirely in Spanish. These tours will be held on select Saturdays throughout Public Tour Season, and will follow the same seasonal tour routes. These tours are free and open to the public, but registration is required. Hike with Hoyt

Free volunteer-led hikes at Hoyt Arboretum will be held June through October. These hikes are geared toward being active in community and are less information-based than Public Tours. Participants should expect to go up to 4 miles and walking routes include a mix of paved, packed-dirt, and gravel trails with ups and downs and occasional stairs. Sign up day-of at the Visitor Center.

Please note that some tour types require advanced registration. Please click the event listing below to learn more about the tour of interest and sign up.
