Discover the feathered friends who make their home at Hoyt Arboretum. You will search high and low with experienced birder Laura Whittemore as you learn how to identify common birds of Hoyt Arboretum by sight and sound. Learn where to look for certain species as well as what clues can be helpful when attempting to identify quick moving birds. No previous birding experience is required.  Binoculars will be available to borrow.

About the instructor: Longtime birder and teacher Laura Whittemore loves to show beginners the tricks of the trade. She has taught classes for Portland Audubon and previously worked for Backyard Bird Shop. Laura holds a BA in Biology from Lewis and Clark College and has traveled in the US, Australia, South Africa, and Antarctica in search of birds.
