Recognizing birds by their songs and calls adds awareness and understanding to your birding experience. This workshop is a great introduction to some of the common bird voices around us. Tune in to bird sounds and take your birding to a new level! In this class, experienced ear birder Laura Whittemore will introduce you to the songs and calls of some of the common resident and migrant songbirds of the Pacific Northwest. Suitable for any birder who wants to start learning the voices of birds.

About the instructor: Longtime birder and teacher Laura Whittemore loves to show beginners the tricks of the trade. She has taught classes for Audubon Society of Portland and previously worked for Backyard Bird Shop, where she helped bird-feeding enthusiasts ID those confusing little brown birds. Laura holds a BA in Biology from Lewis and Clark College and has traveled in the US, Australia, South Africa, and Antarctica in search of birds.

All lectures will be recorded and available to participants for 48hrs following the class.
