Become a forest detective and enlist all of your senses as you learn how to tell the stories of the trees and forest surrounding you. Join author, Jane Billinghurst, on a guided walk along Arboretum trails as she shares ways of closely observing nature from her most recent book, Forest Walking: Discovering the Trees and Woodlands of North America. Learn how to see the history and relationships in nature by looking closely at tree trunks, branching patterns, lichens, moss, cones, etc. Apply the skills you gain from this program to any forest you visit.
About the instructor: Jane Billinghurst is the author of six books, and the translator of four books from German, including The Hidden Life of Trees. She currently lives in Anacortes, WA and is stopping by Portland for this special event. In their most recent book, Forest Walking, Jane and Peter Wohlleben, teach you how to explore and learn from the different forests throughout North America.
