The nationally-accredited Maple collection at Hoyt Arboretum glows every autumn with colors of over 90 species, subspecies, and cultivars.  Join Tedde McMillen for a walking tour of this collection as she shares fun facts and characteristics about the different species.  How does the lion’s head maple get its name and what maple is native to Oregon?  You’ll find the answers to these questions and many more as you explore the trails.

Public tours are held rain or shine. Dress for the weather, and wear comfortable shoes for walking on trails. The route is approximately 1.5 miles and will include some ups and downs along the way. Most of the tour route will travel on well-graded packed dirt or gravel trails. This tour is scheduled for approximately 90 minutes.

Masks are not required for outdoor programs in Portland parks but are encouraged indoors. If you are feeling any COVID-19 symptoms, please stay safe and stay home.

Magnificent Maples and Their Colors is a free guided tour, but registration is required (group size is limited). Meet at the Hoyt Arboretum Visitor Center.
