Join conifer enthusiast Ken Denniston for a 60 minute (~1 mile) easy-going walk through Hoyt Arboretum’s collection of trees with cones.  Learn how to identify common trees you will see when exploring natural spaces in the Portland metro area. Ken will share the textures of bark as well as the shapes and sizes of different cones.  You will visit Douglas firs, Western hemlocks, grand firs, Western red cedars, and more.

Public tours are held rain or shine. Dress for the weather, and wear comfortable shoes for walking on trails. The route is approximately 1 mile and will include some ups and downs along the way. Most of the tour route will travel on well-graded packed dirt or gravel trails.

Masks are not required for outdoor programs in Portland parks but are encouraged indoors. If you are feeling any COVID-19 symptoms, please stay safe and stay home.

Native NW Conifers is a free guided tour, but registration is required (group size is limited). Meet at the Hoyt Arboretum Visitor Center.
