Lichens are a fascinating and essential part of Pacific Northwest ecosystems. In this workshop, we will dive into the exciting world of lichens with biologist Dr. Hannah Prather. This workshop will cover the basics of what lichens are, the important functions they offer in an environment, and will introduce the beginnings of lichen identification.
About the instructor: Dr. Hannah Prather is a postdoctoral researcher at Reed College. Her research on lichen and bryophyte ecology has taken her from the tops of towering trees in the Pacific Northwest, all the way to the polar landscape of Antarctica. She regularly leads local lichen hikes and in her spare time enjoys biking, traveling and climbing trees.
