Hike With Hoyt!

Hike With Hoyt!

Happy summer! If you’re looking to get outside, get moving, and connect with nature and community, Hike with Hoyt is back! Join us at Hoyt Arboretum for twice-weekly guided hikes every Wednesday and Saturday from 10am–12pm, now through October!

Whether you’re new to Portland or just new to hiking, this is a great way to explore Hoyt Arboretum’s trails, discover hidden gems between the trees, and maybe even make a new hiking buddy. You’ll enjoy forested views, learn about native and global trees, and maybe even hike all the way to Pittock Mansion up Wildwood and across the Barbara Walker Crossing!

Every hike is different, and where you’ll go and what you’ll see will be up to your volunteer guide. Don’t worry–all of the Hoyt Arboretum volunteer hike leaders are cool, fun, funny, friendly, and most importantly–knowledgeable!

Here’s what to know before you go:

  • Free and fun! Just sign up in person the morning of your hike at the Visitor Center front desk.

  • Hikes are limited to 15 participants, so come a little early to snag your spot!

  • Expect up to 4 miles of hiking over gravel, dirt, and paved trails with some hills and stairs.

  • We go rain or shine—this is Portland after all!

  • Dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and bring water and snacks.

  • No dogs on group hikes, but service dogs are welcome.

Whether you’re hoping to get your steps in, learn the lay of the land, or just want to hike at Hoyt Arboretum with fellow outdoor lovers, we hope to see you on the trail soon!
